Bringing a pet to the veterinarian can be a little stressful for both the pet and the pet parent. Here are some tips and needs to help your pet’s visit be as easy as possible.

Coming in for an annual exam:

On the way to the hospital -

  • Don’t feed your pet for a few hours prior to coming in - we love to give treats to make the visit a positive experience so the more hungry they are, the better!

  • If your pet is extra nervous about coming to the vet, let us know! We can always prescribe what we call a Pre-Visit Packet which includes a mild sedative to take that extra nervous edge off so it is easier on the pet.

  • We offer Happy Visits! Prior to your pet’s appointment, bring them in to meet us! We will make it a visit full of treats, pets, and love. No needles or those cold stethoscopes. These are at no-charge so come on in! Give us a call to learn more.

  • Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get here. Traffic in our area is a little unpredictable so to keep stress levels down, leave early. We like to see patients arrive 5 to 10 minutes before their scheduled appointment times.

  • Bring a FRESH fecal sample! We recommend testing a fecal sample for internal parasites yearly and your pet will thank you if you just bring in a fresh sample.

At the hospital -

  • If your pet is a senior (over 6 years of age), please don’t allow them to urinate prior to entering the building. Our recommended annual blood work includes testing urine and if your pet will give us a sample here, you won’t have an extra trip back to us!

  • We honor your pet’s well being while in our care so if your pet becomes over stressed, we may recommend coming back to finish services. We want your pet to enjoy their visit with us and sometimes it takes a couple visits to ensure this.

  • Ask questions - a lot! We want you to be very comfortable with the healthcare that your pet is receiving and this means understanding what is being said and recommended. So ask away.

If you or your pet has any special needs or care, please do not hesitate to let us know. We do not cookie cutter our patients’ appointments, they are all individually designed so let us help make every visit the best possible.
